BeetBits Review: The Judgement

Image
This week's review is exceptional because it is a drama that is not a romantic comedy of any sort. Honesty, I am glad I managed to find this drama. The Judgement is a 2018 Thai drama starring  Mild Lapassalan, Kacha Nontanun, Thanabordee Jaiyen,  and  Nara Thepnupha . It discusses very heavy themes like cyber-bullying, rape, gang rape and power abuse. It is an 18+ drama, so if you are not 18 yet, please don't watch this drama. It is not for you.  Story  This drama discusses a series of disasters that happen to a group of college students starting from the female lead, who goes through a horrible experience, to her friends, who go through similar situations. The female lead is a person who is loved by her dad and her stepmom. Her father ends up in a coma after an accident, and she is betrayed by the one person she thought she could trust, her boyfriend. She ends up getting raped by her boyfriend while unconscious and the story unfolds from the...

BeetBits: Well-Intended Love Review

Image
I can't believe I will start this series of articles with a Chinese drama of all things. Being an avid fan of both Korean and Japanese dramas, I thought I would definitely focus more on Korean dramas in this weekly precise mini-series of reviews. However, after thinking about it, I have decided to make this as international as possible. BeetBits will be released every Sunday from now on and it will be a small review of a single series each week. This week our focus will be on " Well-Intended Love " Actors and Characters  When I started " Well-intended Love" I was just bored and picked something randomly, but it did manage to capture my interest. The main actor Xu Kaicheng is quite handsome with strong charisma. I am not familiar with the language so I thought I would find the drama weird and actually drop it, but embarrassingly enough I did not. (cuz the main actor was handsome >-<) Anyway, the lead role has a charm, and there is the depth tha...

Abyss ... First Look at a New Korean Drama

Image
Abyss , The name alone give you a sci-fi feeling, a different feeling from the story. Netflix aired the first couple of episodes of this series just recently and as an avid follower of Kdramas , I had to watch it. The series starts with the death of the main character. Yes, you read that correctly!. The main character dies suddenly without any explanation in the drama and then he is revived.  He is revived as a handsome guy who girls fall in love with all the time.  The main actor is a handsome guy, however, the main character isn't? confused ... same here. Park bo young also appears in a similar form, however, in her case, the main character turns into park bo young who is in fact not pretty, from the main character's point of view of course! Although the drama starts with a death, the fact that the death scene with all its gore turned into something hilarious just seconds later explains exactly what type of drama this is. I believe it will be a unique drama that w...

BeetBits: Clean With Passion For Now Review

Image
Clean With Passion starring  Yoon Kyun Sang  and  Kim Yoo Jung  is a romantic comedy Korean drama that is based on a webcomic with the same title published Via  comico.kr . The drama aired on  JTBC  a cable channel in Korea that is well-known for choosing unique scripts. It did not gain very high ratings compared to other dramas. However, I am sure people who did watch the show enjoyed it. For international viewers, this Korean drama is available on  Netflix ,  Viki  and  Viu. Story and Writing The drama starts with a male lead who suffers from OCD and a germ phobia, having a male lead who is not totally "oh charming and handsome" is the charming point of this drama. He owns a cleaning company despite his faults. He is charming and a hard worker, he can sometimes be annoying as well. The drama also has a lot of funny moments where you crack up laughing because the logic behind everything is beyond you. The initial m...

BeetBits: Erased Anime Review

Image
Erased (Aka.  Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi ) anime, produced by  A-1 Pictures , is a seinen psychological mystery Japanese anime that discusses unique subjects in a supernatural context. The anime discusses various themes that are rarely addressed in mangas, including child abuse, murder, suicide, etc. It is a 17+ anime-only because of its genre, and I believe anyone below this age rate should stay away from this anime. Story-Wise The story starts with a present context where the main guy Satoru Fujimura finds his mother dead in his room due to mysterious circumstances. The main guy at this point is shown as a rather slow, lazy and mysterious guy. The present context is scary for our main guy, and his mysterious power kicks in thanks to that. REVIVAL, as the main guy calls it is the ability to go back in time. Our main guy is sent back in time to the year 1988, The year of the disappearance of Hinazaki Kayo. She is a school colleague who supposedly disappeared when th...

BeetBits: Good Morning Call

Image
Good Morning Call Cast Taken from a famous manga, "Good Morning Call" is a Netflix Original Japanese drama  starring  Haruka Fukuhara,  Shun'ya Shiraishi,  Dôri Sakurada  and produced by Mayuko Okamoto and Akimitsu Sasaki. The drama started airing on 2016 and currently has two full seasons following the main couple throughout both high school and university. Good Morning Call manga was written by Yue Takasuka and sold more than 5-million copies. Although the manga itself is popular, as a person who never read the manga before, my review will only consist of my opinion on the drama alone, without any comparisons to the manga. On IMDB, the rate for this drama is 7.9, which is extremely high if you count the genre of the drama. Typical rom-com dramas are rarely actually given good rating cuz of the repetitive storyline and the level of acting. Personally, I have stayed away from a lot of the famous live adaptations of mangas that I love, because of h...
